Present Position Professor/Director Pediatric Dentistry Postgraduate Program

I am presently working as Professor and Director of Pediatric Dentistry Postgraduate Program in the Division of Pediatric Dentistry, Department of Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics. The Pediatric Dentistry Division provides didactic and clinical training in all areas of pediatric dentistry to undergraduate students, interns and graduate students. In addition, I am involved in providing patient care within the intramural dental clinic of the University.

Academic Activities
I participate in didactic, pre-clinical and clinical training of undergraduate students and interns in all areas of Pediatric Dentistry for normal, handicapped and medically compromised patients. My responsibilities include students' clinical and pre-clinical supervision, interns' supervision and faculty practice. I also supervise interns in their research projects and seminar presentations. Other than continuous clinical evaluation of students, I also prepare and conduct written and oral examinations.
Postgraduate Academic Activities
I have been contributing to the postgraduate program through thesis supervision, seminars, supervision in the management of mentally handicapped/medically compromised patients, complete oral rehabilitation under sedation and general anesthesia. I am Course Director for two postgraduate courses; a seminar course “Advance Pediatric Dentistry” and a clinical course given to third year postgraduate students.
Administrative Duties
I am Program Director for the Postgraduate Program in Pediatric Dentistry. My responsibilities include overall supervision of the program; coordinating with contributing faculty and monitoring the students’ progress in various levels of the program. I represent the Department in Joint Postgraduate and Continuing Education Council of the College. The Pediatric Dentistry Program is currently being revised to keep it at par with other international programs. My other administrative duties include working in the selection committees for demonstrators and postgraduate students.
Research Activities
I am actively involved in various research projects. I have completed several funded research projects as principal investigator. I have also participated as a team member in funded research projects. I have presented my results in national and international conferences. My work has been published in national and international peer-reviewed scientific journals. My primary areas of interest include dental caries in preschool and schoolchildren, oral health status of disable individuals, oral health of individuals with special care needs and oral health knowledge and practices in children and their parents. I am currently supervising two postgraduate research projects on “use of conscious sedation in dental management of uncooperative young children”.
