The Taita Taveta County public Service Board invites applications from suitable and qualified Kenyan citizens to fill the following vacant positions:
HEALTH RECORDS INFORMATION TECHNICIAN II JG G - 3 POSTS (PERMANENT& PENSIONABLE)

Duties and Responsibilities include

  • Reception, registration and scheduling of outpatient and in-patient

  • Maintenance of patient’s master index

  • Preparing appointments of consultants’ special departments

  • Invitation of patient’s health records

  • Patient’s admission documentation and other related procedures

  • Storage and retrieval of health records, x-ray films, pathological and radiological records

  • Coding and indexing of diseases and surgical procedures according to the international classification of procedures in medicine (surgical classification)

  • Collection of medical statistics

  • Performing ward health records duties


Requirement for appointment:

  • Have successfully completed 2years pre-service /in service training in a medical training institution and have been awarded the Health Records and information technician

  • Certificate in Health Records and Information Technology

  • Satisfy the requirement of chapter six of the constitution of Kenya


HEALTH RECORDS AND INFORMATION OFFICER III JG H - 3 POSTS (PERMANENT & PENSIONABLE)

Duties and Responsibilities include

  • Work in Health Records and Information Department ie control of reception, registration and appointment procedures and being responsible for the supervision of staff in the section

  • Administer, editing and discharge procedures

  • Maintenance of bureau and waiting list procedures for inpatient

  • Coordinating the collection of medical statistics from the various sections of the department

  • Supervision of coding and indexing of diseases and surgical operations in accordance with international classification of diseases and international classification of procedures in medicine

  • Maintenance of patients master index, diagnostic index, surgical operation index and other health records indices

  • All other duties relating to health records and information management which may be assigned from time to time


Requirement for appointment

  • Diploma in Health records and information technology from KMTC or other recognized medical training institutions, or a certificate in Health records and information technology and have upgraded to diploma at KMTC or any recognized medical training institution.

  • Minimum of 1year working experience.

  • Competency in computer packages MS Office.

  • Satisfy the requirements of chapter six of the constitution of Kenya


RADIOGRAPHERS JG H – 3 POSTS (PERMANENT& PENSIONABLE)

Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Carry out Radiological examinations

  • Will be deployed in any of the hospitals in the county


Requirement for appointment

  • Be a Kenyan Citizen

  • Diploma in diagnostic Radiology from a recognized institution

  • Additional training in medical imaging sciences, ultrasound, computerized tomography, etc will be an added advantage.

  • Registered with Professional Body

  • Satisfy chapter six of the constitution

  • 1 year experience



COUNSELLOR JG J – 2 POSTS (PERMANENT & PENSIONABLE)

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conducting client intake and individual counselling sessions and keeping records


Requirement for appointment

  • Bachelor degree in Counselling or a bachelor degree in any of the social sciences with a post graduate diploma in counselling from a recognized institution

  • Registration with the Kenya Counselling Association (KCA)

  • Effective knowledge in the professional field

  • Effective communication skills

  • Effective organizational and supervisory skills

  • Ability to keep confidentiality of clients’ information

  • Minimum of 1year working experience

MEDICAL ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGIST JG H – 2 POSTS (PERMANENT& PENSIONABLE)

Duties and Responsibilities include

  • Preventive maintenance of medical equipment

  • Repair of medical equipment


Requirement for appointment

  • Be Kenyan Citizen

  • Diploma in medical Engineering from recognized training institution

  • Registered with the relevant body

  • 1year experience in a recognized institution

COMMUNITY HEALTH ASSISTANT II JG G – 6 POSTS (PERMANENT& PENSIONABLE)

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Visiting homes to determine health situations and dialogue with house hold members

  • Identifying and sensitizing communities on health interventions

  • Identifying common ailments and minor injuries at community level

  • Collecting health data at household level for analysis

  • Distribution of information, education, communication materials, mosquito nets and other commodities to households

  • Identifying defaulters of health interventions and other health cases referring them to health facilities and maintaining, updating health data using health registers


Requirements for Appointments

  • Community health, psychology, counselling, social work or community development from a recognized institution

  • Certificate in computer application skills from recognized institution

  • Be a Kenyan Citizen

  • Satisfy the requirements of chapter six of the constitution of Kenya

  • Those who have been working as community health volunteers( CHVS) in the County will have an added advantage


COMMUNITY ORAL HEALTH OFFICERS JG H – 11 POSTS (PERMANENT & PENSIONABLE)

Duties and Responsibilities


Requirements for appointment

  • Be a Kenyan citizen

  • Diploma in community oral health from a recognized training institution

  • Registered with relevant professional body

  • Minimum 1 year working experience

  • Satisfy the requirement of chapter six of the constitution of Kenya


MEDICAL LABORATORY TECHNOLOGIST JG H – 11 POSTS - (PERMANENT & PENSIONABLE)

Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Discharge of laboratory investigative services to patients/clients

  • Planning and budgeting for laboratory commodities

  • Compiling and submitting laboratory reports


Requirement for appointment:

  • Diploma in medical laboratory sciences from a recognized training institution

  • At least 1year working experience

  • Registered with relevant professional body KMLTTB

  • Satisfy chapter six of the constitution



PUBLIC HEALTH OFFICERS III JG H – 4 POSTS - (PERMANENT& PENSIONABLE)

Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Mobilizing, sensitizing and advising communities on matters related to environmental health

  • Referring health cases to relevant health facilities

  • Carry out immunization

  • Identifying environmental health issues at community level, organizing community days to advice communities on common public health issues

  • Collecting and maintaining up to date records of services rendered, assessing health needs of the community

  • Implementing vector, vermin and rodent control measures and implementing integrated mosquito control strategies


Requirement for appointment:

  • Be a Kenyan Citizen

  • Diploma in Environmental Health Science or Public Health inspection from a recognized institution

  • Certificate in computer application skills from a recognized institution

  • Minimum 1 year working experience

NUTRITION ON DIETETICS TECHNOLOGIST JG H - 4 POSTS (PERMANENT& PENSIONABLE)

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Implementing nutrition programs

  • Providing nutrition services in health care facilities

  • Conducting nutritional assessments, collecting and compiling nutrition data

  • Providing nutrition education and demonstrations

  • Counselling patients with specific nutritional needs and monitoring preparations of therapeutic feeds

  • Implementing outpatient and in-patient supplementary and therapeutic programs

  • Promoting maternal infant and young child nutrition

  • Providing micro nutrients supplements’


Requirements for appointments

  • Diploma in community nutrition, clinical nutrition or nutrition and dietetics from a recognized institution

  • Certificate in computer application skills from a recognized institution

  • Registered by the council of Kenya Nutrition and Dietician Institute (KNDI)

  • Minimum 1 year working experience.

  • Experience of working in a health care set up is an added advantage.

PHARMACEUTICAL TECHNOLOGIST 111 – JG ‘H’ – 4 POSTS - (PERMANENT& PENSIONABLE)

Duties and Responsibilities include

  • Dispensing of drugs/medicines and counselling patients on drug usage in a unit pharmacy

  • Dispensing of medicines and medical commodities.

  • Maintain books/register of drugs/ registers of drugs, noting part1 poisons showing amount of drugs out and entries counter signed by immediate supervisor daily

  • Stock taking of drugs and medicine devices on monthly basis


Requirement for appointment

  • Be a Kenyan citizen

  • Be a hold of a Diploma in Pharmacy award by the Kenya Medical Training College or from any other recognized and approved institution

  • A registration certificate of enrollment as a pharmaceutical technologist by the pharmacy and poisons Board (PPB) as per provision of pharmacy and poison act (Cap 244)

  • Be computer literate i.e. working knowledge with Ms Word, Ms Excel, Ms PowerPoint, Ms Access

  • 1 year working experience in busy institution


PHYSIOTHERAPIST 111 JG H – 3 POST (PERMANENT& PENSIONABLE)

Duties and Responsibilities include

  • Provision of Physiotherapy treatment

  • Assessment and rehabilitation of disabilities

  • Any other duty as may be assigned by his/her supervisor


Requirement for appointment

  • Must be Kenyan Citizen

  • Must have a Diploma in Physiotherapy from a recognized institution in Kenya

  • Registered with the relevant body

  • Minimum of 1 year experience

PLASTER TECHNICIANS JG G – 4 POSTS (PERMANENT& PENSIONABLE)

Duties and Responsibilities

  • To work under the guidance and supervision of an Orthopedic Surgeon or Orthopedic clinical officer

  • Application and removal of plaster and traction


Requirements for appointment

  • Certificate in orthopedic, plaster and traction technology from KMTC or any other a recognized institution.

  • Satisfy the requirements of chapter six of the constitution of Kenya

  • Minimum working experience of 1 year in a busy institution


REGISTERED CLINICAL OFFICER PAEDIATRICS JG L - 2 POSTS (PERMANENT & PENSIONABLE)

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Preventive, curative and promoting activities at all levels of the health facilities that includes counselling, history taking examinations, diagnosis and treatments of patients/ clients

  • Attending to children both as inpatient, MCH and out patients department

  • Implementation of community health care activities in liaison with other health workers

  • Collecting and compiling clinical data and referrals of patients/clients


Requirements for appointment

  • Diploma/Bachelor degree in clinical medicine and surgery or Clinical medicine and community health from a recognized institution.

  • Higher diploma in pediatrics

  • Certificate of registration from the clinical officers council

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Preventive, curative and promoting activities at all levels of the health facilities that includes counselling, history taking examinations, diagnosis and treatments of patients/ clients

  • Conducting lung and skin clinics

  • Be on the forefront in the management and prevention of tuberculosis

  • Implementation of community clinical data and referrals of patients/clients


Requirements for appointment

  • Diploma/ Bachelors degree in clinical medicine and surgery/ clinical medicine and community health from a recognized institution

  • Higher national diploma in lung and skin

  • Certificate of registration from the clinical officers’ council

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conducting orthopedic services that include minor orthopedic surgeries

  • Implementation of community health care activities in liaison with other health workers

  • Collecting and compiling clinical data and referrals of patients/clients.


Requirements for appointment

  • Diploma/ Bachelors degree in clinical medicine and surgery/ clinical medicine and community health from a recognized institution

  • Higher national diploma in orthopedic

  • Certificate of registration from the clinical officers’ council

  • A minimum of 1 year of working experience in a busy hospital or clinic or completed one year internship from a recognized institution.

REGISTERED CLINICAL OFFICERS II JG H 15 POSTS (PERMANENT& PENSIONABLE)

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Diploma in clinical medicine and surgery/ clinical medicine and community health from a recognized institution

REGISTERED CLINICAL OFFICERS – ANAESTHESIA JG L 4 POSTS (PERMANENT& PENSIONABLE)

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Preventive, curative and promoting activities at all level if the health facilities that include counselling, history taking, examination, diagnosing and treatment of patients/clients.

  • Conducting anesthesia duties and attending to emergencies

  • Implementation of community health care activities in liaison with other health workers

  • Collecting and compiling clinical data and referrals in patients/clients


Requirements for appointment

  • Diploma/ Bachelor degree in clinical medicine and surgery, clinical medicine and community health from a recognized institution

  • Higher national Diploma in Anaesthesia

REGISTERED PERI-OPERATIVE NURSES JG L 4 POSTS (PERMANENT& PENSIONABLE)

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assessing of the patients physiologic and psychological status before, during and after surgery

  • Identifying priorities and implementing care based on sound and nursing judgmental and individual patients needs

  • Functioning as a role model of a professional peri-operative nurse or students and colleagues

  • Coordinating all activities associated with implementation of nursing care by other members of the health care team

  • Demonstrating a thorough knowledge of a septic principles and techniques to maintain a safe and therapeutic surgical environment

  • Directing or assisting with the care and handling of all supplies, equipment and instruments, to ensure their economic and efficient function for orthepatient and personnel under both normal and hazardous conditions

  • Performing asthescrub, circulating nurse oras needed, based on knowledge and expertise for a specific procedure

KENYA REGISTERED NURSES III JG H – 26 POSTS (PERMANENT & PENSIONABLE)

Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Assessing, planning, implementing nursing interventions and evaluating patients outcomes

  • Providing appropriate health care service including integrated management of childhood illnesses (IMCI)

  • Immunization and reproductive health services

  • Providing health education and counselling to patents/clients and community on identified health needs

  • Referring patients and clients appropriately

  • Facilitating patients admission, assess patients’ needs for nursing services and initiating nursing care plans

  • Keep records of drugs and other supplies

  • Guide, supervise and counsel staff performing routine clinical duties

Requirement for appointment

  • Diploma in any of the following disciplines: Kenya Registered Community Health Nursing, Kenya Registered Nursing, Kenya Registered Midwifery, Kenya Registered Nursing/ Midwifery or Kenya Registered Nursing/ Mental Health and Psychiatry from a recognized institution

  • Registered with the Nursing Council of Kenya

SONOGRAPHER JG L – 3 POSTS (PERMANENT& PENSIONABLE)

Duties and Responsibilities include

  • Imaging particularly ultrasound imaging

  • Show leadership in provision of imaging services round the clock including odd hours

  • Management of the imaging department


Requirement for appointment

  • Higher diploma in ultrasound from a registered institution

  • Strong communication skills

  • At least 1 year working experience in a busy institution

ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF MEDICAK SERVICES (ADMS) JG P- 3 POSTS (PERMANENT& PENSIONABLE)

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Administrative duties at county and sub county hospitals as medical superintendents

  • Clinical duties

  • Planning, budget preparation and implementation of work plans at hospital level

  • Chairing the hospital management committee

  • Supervision of delivery of quality health care at hospital level

  • Handling prudently concerns from the public and staff


Requirements for appointment

  • Be a Kenyan Citizen

  • MBCHB or equivalent from a recognized university

  • A master’s degree in public health (MPH)

  • Be registered by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board

  • Have a capacity to undertake multi tasks within strict time lines

  • Be proficient in computer skills

PHYSICIAN JG Q -1 POST (PERMANENT)

Duties and Responsibilities


  • Teaching and supervision of interns and other health workers

  • Outreach clinics and surgeries in Sub- County Hospitals .

  • Policy formulation at county level


Requirement for appointment

  • MBCHB, MMED medicine

  • Sub specialty will be an added advantage

  • Registered with Medical practitioners and Dentist Board

  • Satisfy chapter six of the constitution of Kenya

  • A Minimum of three (3) years experience at Job Group ‘P’

RADIOLOGIST JG Q 1- POST (PERMANENT)

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provision of quality radiological examinations to both outpatient and inpatient: Including basic, radiology, invasive radiology, ultrasound and complex examination including CT Scanning

  • Supervision of radiology departments in the county

  • Policy formulation at county level

  • Participate in planning, management, audit and development of clinical radiology services

  • Will be in charge of the radiology services in the county .

Requirements for appointment

  • MBCHB, MMED – Radiology or equivalent, from a recognized university

  • Additional trainings in radiology will be an added advantage

  • Registered with medical practitioners and Dentists Board

  • Meet the requirements of chapter six of the constitution of Kenya

  • Minimum of three (3) years experience at Job Group ‘P’ of general radiology, ultrasound and CT


OBSTETRICIAN/ GYNAECOLOGIST JG Q - 1 POSTS (PERMANENT)

Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Clinical duties in Sub County Hospital

  • Teaching and supervision of health workers

  • Outreach clinics and surgeries in the county hospitals

  • Assist in the policy formulation

Requirement for appointment:

  • MBCHB, MMED – Obstetrics/ Gynecology

  • Registered with Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board

  • Meet the requirements of chapter six of the constitution of Kenya

  • Minimum of three (3) years experience at Job Group ‘P’
