JOB DESCRIPTION TITLE: Dental Clinic Manager

i Graduate from a recognised Dental school.

ii Saudi Board or equivalent higher qualification in one of the dental specialties.


A higher degree, e.g. an MD or Ph.D. from a recognized university.

i Specialised professional experience in one of the branches of Dentistry in a recognised centre as follows:

i (a) Five (5 ) years as a Consultant (Category A hospitals )

i (b) Three (3 ) years as a Consultant (Category B hospitals )

i (c) One ( 1 ) years as a Consultant (Category C hospitals )

ii Must be a publisher of original work, have at least participated and preferably led original research ( Category A + B hospitals ).

iii Experience in the organisation of teaching of undergraduates and postgraduates and paramedical training ( Category A hospitals ).


i Self-motivated and with awareness of current trends in the field.

ii Ability to speak, write and read Arabic and English.

iii Proven management and leadership skills.

Responsible for the overall management of the department including the supervision of medical, technical and administrative staff, directing postgraduate education and career training opportunities within the department, planning and budgeting responsibilities and the care and treatment of patients for whom he is responsible.

Reports to: Director of Medical Administration/Chairman of Medical Staff
Subordinate Staff: All staff in the Dental Department, including medical, Dental Hygienists, DSAs, Dental Laboratory Technicians and clerical support staff.
Essential Collaborative Relationships: All staff in the medical and surgical departments and the Director of Nursing
i Implements and monitors medical staff adherence to Medical Staff Bylaws, Code of Medical Ethics, Rules and Regulations of the Medical Staff and those specific to the department.
ii Provides the highest attainable standard of medical care for the patients for whom he/she is responsible.
iii Manages the operational activities of the department, including organising of on-call duties, scheduling of staff for the various clinical activities and authorising annual leave.
iv Supervises the work of Consultants, Senior Registrars, Registrars, Residents, Dental Hygienists, DSAs, Technicians and administrative support staff.
v Maintains continuing and regular review of the professional performance and ethical behavior of the medical and technical staff appointed to the department.
vi Chairs all departmental meetings and ensures that the minutes of such meetings are forwarded to the responsible medical committees.
vii Organises postgraduate teaching programme and regular seminars in the department, promoting clinical research and investigative work.

viii Prepares budgetary planning for Dental Department, including capital equipment requests and preparation of all related reports.

ix To act as the team leader of his/her department; in which capacity he/she shall set priorities for improvement activities, participate in planning, and carry out the quality management and improvement programme.
x He/she is to provide technology and support, consistent with the organisation's resources, for tracking and comparing monitoring results

xi Performs full range of clinical activities in the field of his specialty as an active Consultant.

xii Updates and enforces departmental bylaws to ensure quality of care.
xiii Represents the Department of Dentistry on the various medical staff committees as necessary.
xiv Motivates departmental staff by effectively leading and directing employees to perform to the best of their abilities.
xv Fulfills the requirements of the Saudi Council for Health Specialties with regard to continuing medical education.
xvi Recommends clinical privileges for the departmental staff to the Chairman of the Credentials & Appointment Committee.
xvii Reviews, screens and recommends employees for vacant positions in the department to the Chairman of the Credential & Appointment Committee.
xviii Participates in the Major Disaster Plan of the hospital, as indicated.
xix Performs other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the realm of his/her knowledge, skills and abilities, within the hospital and/or affiliated medical facilities.
