Samode Palace (Near Jaipur)

[Access: 260 Kms / 5.5 Drive from Delhi]

Samode Palace was meticulously restored and transformed into one India’s premium palace hotels in 1987, and is a perfect example of Rajput-Mughul architecture, underlined by the influence of Nepal from where the Rawal wives often came, and of course, the legacy of the colonial Raj. The Palace's most fabulous feature is the extravagantly florid, hand-painted Darbar Hall and the overlooking gallery which forms the incredible hall of mirrors, the magic of which is repeated across other famous palaces of Rajasthan.

At Samode weddings are indeed made in heaven. The Palace is ideal for grand celebrations and seems custom-ordered for Weddings. Traditionally an Indian wedding has two important components - a horse for the groom and a ‘doli’ palanquin in which the bride is carried away. As you walk into Samode Palace you are greeted by the idea of an imminent wedding - the doorway has a wooden horse to one side and a doli on the other!
