A very warm welcome to all 5th year students participated in Pediatric Dentistry Course (PDS 511). The start of a new academic year is always special and full of energy. During this course, you will be learning the basic principals in pediatric dentistry. In addition, you will be manage and provide full dental treatment for pediatric patient with the help of our delicate staff. We strongly believe that quality of student learning often related to the quality of courses that we as teachers provide. Our staff has the ability to communicate effectively, share knowledge, respect ideas of others, and bring out the best in students. Furthermore, it is our responsibility to ensure the best possible teaching/learning environment. Finally, we are glad to present to you the pediatric dentistry course syllabus.

Replying to Posts on the Discussion Forums
The discussion forum is the heart of our online course. It is where you will submit many of your assignments, and where you will discuss your work with your classmates. All forums are public except the discussion forum that is set for group assignments. Therefore, whatever is posted can be seen by everyone in the course. It is of great importance that you take our advice and guidance with care. We will provide you with all the tools that you need during the course. It is mandatory to attend the whole series of lectures, labs and clinical sessions designed for you.

Blackboard (Online Contents):
This course will be delivered via Blackboard; the online platform used at KAU, where you will interact with your classmates and with your instructors. Within the course Blackboard site, you will access some of the learning materials such as; the syllabus, class discussions, assignments, projects, and quizzes. Follow your course schedule to know the mode (online or face-to-face) by which course activities and assignments will be conducted.
Blackboard is a web-based platform that can be accessed using any web browser. Additional software requirement will be indicated when needed.

The Announcements Forum, linked under the Course Communication Center module on our course's home page, serves as a way for instructors to make announcements within our virtual learning environment. All students are automatically subscribed to this forum and will receive a duplicate email of each message posted within it.
The course has a calendar with all scheduled lectures, activities, and assignment due dates. The calendar is a mean of keeping all students on track in meeting course requirements and deadlines. The calendar is found as a link under the communication center in our home page on the Blackboard.

Blackboard Collaborate (Web Conferencing)
Throughout the course, I might invite the class to meet with me synchronously via Blackboard Collaborate. Blackboard Collaborate is a synchronous (same time), web-conferencing application that allows us to share a white-board, chat, talk, break-up into groups, and perform other tasks in a live environment. To enter our virtual Blackboard Collaborate Live classroom, simply click on the “Blackboard Collaborate” link under Communication Center on our course home page. You must be inside of our course before clicking on that link because instructor and course information is transferred to Blackboard Collaborate as a way of directing you to our specific classroom.
