Now let's read the text about Sport in Kazakhstan.

Pupils should read and understand the main information (if you want you may put down some information on your list of paper which is empty) and after the reading and understanding the text you should retell your information from your card to your neighbour.

Pair work Is it true or false?

The name of the sport Kokpar comes from Kazakh words and means "a grey fox."

Kokpar is considered to be a kind of polo.

Kokpar lasts 25 minutes.

In Kazakh language kyz kuu literally means "catch the boy"

Two horse riders (a man and a woman) participate in Kyz kuu.

If the man wins he has the right to beat the girl.

Baige is one of the most popular and widespread Kazakh equestrian sport.

Baige is a camel racing over short and long distances (up to 100 kilometres).

The participants are Kazakh boys between 7 and 14 years of age.

Audaryspak is a traditional horseback wrestling.

Kazakh traditional sports are still practiced in Kazakhstan during national celebrations.

In Kazakh language kumis alu means "pick up the coin."

During the competition Kumis alu, a horse rider bends to pick up a coin or handkerchief from the ground.

The competitor who gathered less coins in his round is the winner.
