Education Program Coordinator: Based in Panama
Give & Surf is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose mission is to empower indigenous communities of Bocas del Toro, Panama through education and community development. We are looking for an Education Program Coordinator to assist in developing the education programs and class offerings for the preschool, after-school program, summer school, and English classes. This position is a six-week minimum internship and is a great opportunity for recent graduates with an interest in teaching or education majors.

Give & Surf is creating an internship that will enable candidates to gain an understanding of international development, teaching English as foreign language, and community based non-profits, all while living and working on a Caribbean island.
* This is an adventurous and hands on internship in a developing country. Candidates able to maintain an upbeat and positive working attitude, even without the typical comforts of home are desired. Expect days without internet access, daily transportation by boat, and a work schedule that varies based on the weather.

  • To effectively develop and prepare lesson plans for a number of age groups and classes, ranging from preschool to Adult English lessons.

  • To teach daily classes in a challenging environment.

  • To work closely with visiting volunteers and volunteer coordinators on developing the current programs.


  • College student or recent graduate.

  • Passionate about non-profits and causes.

  • Self-motivated and enthusiastic about promoting a great cause.

  • Teaching experience.

  • Exposure to unpleasant living conditions: rain, mud, bugs, and more.

  • Bi-lingual and exposure to international volunteering and/or Latin America a plus.

The interns are responsible to pay internship fees of $1500 per month. The fees cover the following:

  • Pre trip preparation and orientation with Director of Development

  • In country guides and support

  • Bocas del Toro airport pick up and orientation of Bocas

  • Accommodations

  • All transportation in Bocas del Toro (rides to town, surf, beach, community)

  • Use of surfing equipment and snorkel gear

  • Lunches Monday-Friday

  • Drinking water

  • Household item needs
