The Cork University Dental School & Hospital offers excellent education leading to a professional health care career in a challenging and growing discipline. The School of Dentistry is located in Wilton on campus of Cork University Hospital. The Dental School & Hospital is the centre for dental education and research in the South of Ireland and has an excellent reputation for clinical teaching, clinical practice and research.
The Dental School and Hospital wishes to appoint a Temporary Finance Manager. The successful applicant will report to the Hospital & School Manager and the Head of School and will provide management accounting information to senior management; exercise day-to-day control of allocated financial resources; develop and enhance transparent financial systems in line with service and business objectives.
Finance Manager

(8 month contract, commencing November 2016)

Applications are invited for the post of Finance Manager commencing in November 2016 for a period of 8 months.

Salary Scale: €44,849 to €55,032 (7 point scale)





  1. Relevant experience in a similar capacity

  1. Minimum of 3 years experience working a large dynamic organization, working to tight deadlines and strict budgetary limits

  1. Proven experience in producing data on a regular basis to strict deadlines.

  1. Experience of working with Agresso.

  1. Experience of working in a University Environment

  1. Knowledge of public procurement

Education Qualifications

  1. Professional Accounting Qualification – ACA, CPA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent

Skills, personal attributes

  1. Excellent analytical and financial data interpretation skills.

  1. Ability to work with both financial and non-financial data

  1. Excellent IT and presentation skills, in particular advanced features of Microsoft Excel e.g. pivot tables, filters, data model, formulas.

  1. Strong interpersonal skills, a commitment to teamwork and the drive for continuous improvement to achieve excellence.

  1. Excellent communication skills both oral and written.

  1. Evidence of motivation, initiative, organizational and negotiation skills

  1. Ability to deal flexibly with a range of different demands and he ability to prioritize a varied workload.

  1. Demonstrate leadership and influencing skills.
