  • To be responsible for overall management and administrative affairs of the ward.

  • To make strategy and planning for the ward concerning administrative aspects.

  • Providing full quality medical consultation (diagnosis and treatment), supervising Medical Officers, Registrars, Member of board of students and research department and coordinating research activities.

  • Doing Upper and Lower GI and Diagnostic and Therapeutic Endoscopic Procedures

  • Assisting ERCP and EUS

  • To conduct diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopies.

  • To conduct ward rounds and ER twice weekly.

  • Outpatients clinic once a week to advice and admit patients.

  • Conducting the performance appraisal of the staff of the ward.

  • Monitoring the progress of the staff of the ward.

  • Setting targets to achieve the overall objectives of the department.

  • Making new procedures and policies to improve the efficiency of the ‘staff members of the ward.

  • Providing on call services for medical services after usual work once weekly.

  • Participating in clinicopathological conference of hospital weekly.

  • Consultation to other departments regarding medical problems.



  • Monitoring and supervising the sentinel site following activities twice weekly

    • Registering of patients according to eligibility criteria

    • Providing them education and treatment.

    • Screening of the family of diseased and health care workers

    • Vaccination of high risk group and health care workers

  • Liver clinic twice weekly

  • Arranging seminars and Walks for different professionals to prevent hepatitis by different preventive strategies according to their profession and educate them according to international standards.

  • Keeping records and doing prospective and retrospective studies after informed consent.

  • Arranging screening camps for Hepatitis B & C and providing health education.

  • To see the patients presenting in outpatient clinic (OPD), emergency(ER) and in-patient department.



  • To oversee the patients seen by house officer and give proper advice regarding diagnosis and management and education of the patient.

  • To consult all patients with the consultant and follow up cases if necessary.

  • To admit the patients from emergency department and send to ward, ICU, CCU or concerned departments.

  • To supervise the house officers and guide them efficiently in ER, OPD and in the wards.

  • To rotate through different specialties within the field of the medicine, like ITC, CCU, Pulmonolgy.

  • To be on call for 36 hours thrice weekly.

  • To maintain the record of admissions./discharge register, handing taking over register of the staff.

  • To present a case summary of the patients expired in daily morning meeting in front of consultants.

  • To attend journal clubs, seminars and monthly tests in order to be up to date.

  • To present audit reports of ER, OPD and ward patients, so that clinical governance is applied.

  • To present the research papers from international journals in front of whole department in order to stay update with new techniques and recent advancement in the field of medicine

  • Overall incharge of the Basic Health unit

  • To see the patients in OPD and give them the treatment.

  • Referring the patients to District Hospital if they require further work up or admission

  • Vaccination of children as per EPI program.

  • Polio Campaigns time to time

  • Keeping the health record of all the patients

  • Health education of the children

  • To educate about personal hygiene and healthy foods.

  • To educate about dental care,

  • To detect any disease and refer accordingly

  • (1) Lions Club International. Presently working as president Islamabad Margala Lions Club and has worked as Zone chairman, District chairman.

  • (2) Patients Welfare Society and other local organizations.

  • Has three Extension awards from Lions Club International Headquarter, USA.

  • Awarded best Zone chairman for year 2004 by the District Governor.

  • Have generated ward Fund for the poor patients where I get from different donors and spend on the patients for Medicine, investigations and diet.

  • Started a diet project for poor patients in collaboration of other donors in DHQ Hospital in 2003, which is giving almost 100 patients three times a day daily for last four years.

  • As Hepatitis C is a prevalent disease the diagnosis and treatment is very costly, it is very difficult to get laboratory tests, I have arrangements with a local pathological laboratory, which give 60% discount to these poor patients.

  • Also made arrangements with local companies who import Interferon give 50% discount on treatment.

  • During my posting as DMS Zakat, I took 10% more discount on medicines by which we catered 10% more patients annually.

  • Arranges medical and eye camps regularly.

  • Coordinator in Renovation of Flood Effected DHQ Hospital Nowshera KPK.
