1. Primit Study At the start of the meeting two speakers, Rebecca Foskett and Jenny Stevens came in to talk about the primary care research network, STILTS and the Primit study. They mentioned how successful the research project had been within our practice and mentioned that they had had such a good response back from the first batch of letters they had sent out that they were sending out a second batch of research invites.
The speakers also talked about the different types of research they have been studying and how successful their studies had been.
3. Practice Managers Report NHS111 Craig gave an update to the group on NHS 111 and the current situation.
Staffing Dr Mildred Chiwara, who joined the practice as a salaried GP last year, has now gone on maternity leave.
The partners have also been vey pleased to announce that they have now appointed two part-time female salaried GP’s, Dr Kate Rees and Dr Tahera Chaudry. They both started with us on 20th May 2013. They are both working 3 days a week (6 sessions)
We are still currently getting locum GP’s in on a regular basis to cover for Dr Mildred Chiwaras maternity leave until the partners employee a salaried GP for maternity cover.
Jenny Wilson, our Health Care Assistant is now fully trained to do extra tasks, such as, ECG’s, new patient health checks, Well person checks, hypertension reviews etc.
4. Chairman’s Report
Kay Johnson Tony has received an acknowledgement from Kay with her resignation from the Patient Participation Group. Tony would like to formally thank Kay for all her hard work whilst she was secretary for the PPG and for being a long-term group member.
Recruitment The group now needs to start looking at the recruitment of a new PPG member. Tony has already spoke to 3 people from when Michael was recruited (Elspeth was unfortunately unavailable) Tony will call Shirley and liaise with Craig regarding the recruitment. Hopefully we will have a new group member at the next PPG meeting.
SSE CCG The SSE CCG has a patient council who will meet on 3rd June 2013. Tony has seen the agenda but has no further knowledge regarding this.
