Wednesday 11th September

Dear Parents,

We are now well into our first full week and all the children seem to have settled well into their new classrooms and enjoying their new routines.
This week’s news and information:

Following our survey on your thoughts about children’s homework last year, we have listened to what you said and have made some changes to homework routines. You indicated that you would like plenty of time allowed to complete homework tasks to enable you to plan this into your week and weekend. Therefore across the whole school, all homework will now be given out on a Friday, to be handed in the following Wednesday. This will give you all time across the weekend and some weekday evenings to complete the tasks. Staff will chase up any homework not handed in on a Thursday.

  • Pop Ins – 18th September –

sessions at 9am and 3.20pm

These sessions are an opportunity for parents to come into school to find out what children will be learning this term and ways that you can best help with their learning. Children and parents attend these sessions together.

  • Possible Strike Action – 1st October

Strike action has been called by some of the teaching unions for 1st October. At the moment the impact on school is unclear, but we will try and make as many plans as we can to minimise disruption and let parents know as soon as possible. However, rules around strike action mean that staff are not required to give notice of their intensions and it may be that we only have short notice that some classes will not be in school that day. We will send more information about this as soon as possible..

  • Year 6

Yesterday all Year 6s should have brought home an information pack about their transfer to secondary school. This pack gives you all the information needed to apply online, but there is contact information for if you wish to apply by phone or request a paper application form.

More information can be found on the Lincolnshire County Council’s website

www.lincolnshire.gov.uk/parents/schools/school-admissions or they can be contacted on

Also just to remind you that the 11+ tests will be taking place in school this Friday and next Friday mornings.

Reception classes would be most grateful for donations of any old cards/envelopes/

postcards/invitations that you have – the children love to write on these sorts of things in their play.
