Did you know …
That the St. David Welsh Society has built a cottage at Devonian Botanical Garden, honouring David Thompson. David Thompson mapped over 3.9 million square kilometers of North America and has been described as the “greatest land geographer who ever lived.” Visit Devonian Gardens and see the Thompson Cottage.
That the Society can trace its roots back to 1904 when a small group of Welshmen gathered together for "sing-songs."
That the Society sponsors an artist in residence school program at Edmonton and District schools. Schools that have received the program include Victoria Composite High School, Our Lady of Peace Elementary School, and Lauderdale Elementary School.
That the Society provides assistance to visiting and local musicians and choirs. This includes giving financial support to the Edmonton Opera Association and sponsoring a harp and choral competition for youths.
The society members come from various backgrounds. We have members who are from Wales, who have Welsh ancestors and others who are interested in learning more about the Welsh culture.
How to join the Society?
