9th September

Hull-a-baloo – Day 1

Our whole school will take part in a theme day, learning about the fishing heritage of Hull. They will then celebrate this heritage through a range of song, dance, reflection and art activities.

  • To explore the heritage and traditions of our city as we prepare to be the City of Culture 2017.

21st September

Learning Communion

Children in Years 4, 5 & 6 will participate in a Learning Communion with the Chaplin from our link Secondary school.



Spiritual

  • To participate in, and understand, the symbolism and belief behind this Christian Act of Worship.

23rd September & 3rd October

Pedestrian Skills

Our Year 3 & 4 children will take part in Pedestrian Skills training to ensure they understand how to cross the road safely to keep themselves safe.

Social

  • To learn basic life skills in order to stay safe and contribute positively to the local community.

30th September

MacMillan Coffee Morning

Our Reception and Year 1 children will plan and host fundraising activities for the parents to raise money for charity.

Social

  • To raise awareness of people who are fighting long term and life threatening health issues.

14th October

Harvest Festival

Our whole school will collect food donations to make up harvest parcels to be delivered by our Y6 children to pensioners in the local community. We will celebrate Harvest festival with parents in a shared church service at St. James’ Church.

21st October

Pink Raffle Fundraiser for Cancer Research

Our children will participate in fundraising activities to raise money for charity.

Social

  • To raise awareness of people living with long term health issues and research being carried out into life threatening illnesses.

11th November

Armistice Day

The whole school will make a poppy, which they will lay during a whole school collective worship service. The whole school will participate during this service in a moment of reflective silence.

Hull-a-baloo – Day 2

Our whole school will take part in a theme day, learning about life in Hull during World War II. They will then commemorate this era through a range of song, dance, reflection and art activities.

  • To explore the heritage and traditions of our city as we prepare to be the City of Culture 2017.

18th November

Children in Need

Our Y6 children will plan and host fundraising activities for the whole school to raise money for charity. Children will learn about the work of the charity and how their donations can help others.

WB 21st November

Anti-bullying and Road safety week

The school councillors, buddies and our Learning Mentor will lead events, and work with the local PCSO, across the school to raise awareness of how to address and prevent bullying issues. In addition, our road safety officers and Learning Mentor will deliver messages to all pupils on how to stay safe near roads.

Advent/Christmas

The whole school will participate in activities and acts of collective worship to reflect on the season. Our Y6 children will also lead carols and lessons during the church service at St. James’ Church.

RE and Prayer Spaces

The whole school will take part in reflection and prayer activities to explore their thoughts, ideas and beliefs through a range of worship activities.

6th January

Hull-a-baloo – Day 3

Our whole school will take part in a theme day, learning about the famous Hull aviator, Amy Johnson. They will then celebrate this heritage through a range of song, dance, reflection and art activities.

  • To learn about and reflect on the lives and achievements of significant people in History who were from our city as we celebrate being the City of Culture 2017.

Wednesday 1st March and through to 16th April

Lent and Easter

The whole school will participate in activities and acts of collective worship during this time. Our Y6 children will also lead our church service at St. James’ Church.

Our whole school will take part in a celebration of Literature through a range of book based activities.

Our whole school will take part in a theme day, learning about famous significant people who came from Hull and have made a contribution to British life. They will then celebrate these achievements through a range of song, dance, reflection and art activities.

23rd June

Hull-a-baloo – Day 6

Community Afternoon Tea Party Celebrating Hull 2017

Our whole school will take part in a celebration day, learning about key aspects of life in the local area of Sutton through our links with The Old School, St. James’ Church and learning about the old railway track. They will then celebrate this heritage through a community event with our local residents.
