CWU-36/P and 45/P Flight Jackets:

MANY CWU JACKETS (Mainly 1st and 2nd Patterns) ARE MADE

OF MATERIAL THAT LOOKS LIKE HERRINGBONE (HBT) CLOTH.

I DO NOT KNOW IF THIS WAS A FLAW IN SOME BOLTS-OF-CLOTH OR IF SOME CLOTH WAS MADE THIS WAY ON PURPOSE!

ALL CWU JACKETS ARE HIGHLY SUSCEPTIBLE TO "THREAD-RUN". THIS WILL NOT BE NOTED UNLESS IT IS SEVERE AS IT IS A VERY-COMMON CONDITION.

("Thread-Run" is Common on Mint Condition CWU Jackets)

Many "Used" CWU's are "Re-Cycled" by the Military!

(Flight Jackets are Listed-as "Organizational" Gear; Not "Personal")

i.e., AN AIR FORCE UNIT CAN TURN-IN A CWU TO THE CENTRAL SUPPLY DEPOT, AND THEN, THE SAME CWU CAN BE RE-ISSUED TO A U. S. NAVY OR A U. S. MARINE CORPS UNIT.
THE NAVY/MARINE UNIT WILL REMOVE THE EXCESS USAF VELCRO; THIS MAY LEAVE STITCH-HOLES!
ALSO, WHEN AN AIRMAN LEAVES A UNIT, HE WILL TAKE-OFF HIS BADGES (PATCHES), TURN-IN THE JACKET, AND THEN, THE SAME JACKET WILL BE REISSUED TO ANOTHER AIRMAN! WHO WILL PUT-ON HIS BADGES ON THE REISSUED JACKET, THEREBY LEAVING STITCH-HOLES & SHADOWS!
