Hand & ultrasonic scaling - Instrument and equipment care and sharpening: Following an introductory lecture, we will present proper techniques for hand and ultrasonic scaling. Attendees will then rotate through different stations learning to sharpen dental instruments both by hand and machine, in addition to learning drill systems maintenance & care from an expert. This section provides the training you need to best maintain your investment.
Pain management and regional anesthesia (local nerve blocks): This session will detail the major options for pain management in canine and feline patients, highlighting new products and techniques. Following a lecture discussion, all attendees will practice and learn proper nerve block techniques on skulls.
Dental radiology: This section will begin with a short lecture on simplified techniques for obtaining dental radiographs with more ease and efficacy. Next, attendees will have hands-on opportunity to practice & perfect radiograph techniques using cadaver skulls. This session can provide introductory training or a good refresher for obtaining better images of “hard to get” teeth.
Dental radiograph interpretation: This session is presented as a fun & interactive discussion on interpretation of dental x-rays. Attendees are welcome to bring their own challenging cases on a disc or flash drive.
Marketing veterinary dentistry (Improving dental compliance): Learn how to maximize your dental income while making your patients happier & healthier. This will lead to better results for patients as well as improved client satisfaction! This discussion will demonstrate how to effectively promote and achieve more dental cleanings at your clinic, as well as increasing the value (both medically and financially) of each prophylaxis procedure.
Course meets the requirements for hours of continuing education credit in jurisdictions which recognize AAVSB's RACE approval. However participants should be aware that some boards have limitations on the number of hours accepted in certain categories and/or restrictions on certain methods of delivery of continuing education.
