    • Dividers labeled:

      • Classwork

      • Assignments

      • Writing (put all of your loose leaf paper here or a spiral notebook)

  • USB drive (strongly recommended)


Pencil Case for all classes:

Index cards

Colored pencils/crayons

Brief Overview of NYS Standards:
Reading Standards for Literature

Using realistic and historical fiction, prose, and poetry to find key ideas and details, focus on craft and structure, integrate knowledge of ideas, and read and comprehend literature with proficiency.


Reading Standards for Informational Text

Research information using varying texts, determine central ideas and analyze development of text, determine meaning of words and author’s purpose, compare, and read nonfiction with proficiency.


Writing Standards

Write arguments to support claims with clear reasons and relevant evidence, information/explanatory texts, narratives, and produce clear and coherent writing which the development, organization, and style are appropriate.


Speaking and Listening Standards

Comprehend, collaborate, and present knowledge and ideas.


Language Standards

Demonstrate command of the conventions of standard English grammar and usage when writing or speaking.
