4-5 SYSC Systems have inputs and outputs.

(deltas, water flow and speed)

  • Investigate and Think Critically: Research, manage and evaluate information and solve problems using digital tools and resources.

  • Formulate and synthesize new knowledge.

Changes in inputs may change the outputs of a system.

  • Describe what goes into a system (input) and what comes out of a system (output) (e.g., when rivers run into the sea they carry sediment with them.

  • Describe the effect on a system if its input is changed (e.g., if the speed of the water or the course of the water is changed the sediment deposits will change and so will the disposition of the water)

  • The 5th grade technology s will be able to summarize information about Deltas from the following address, https://www.mycapstonelibrary.com/runtimelogin.aspx

  • Explain the term sediment and Delta. They will be able to draw the 3 types of Deltas and explain how they are formed.

  • Students will look at picture of Snake River & Columbia River convergence at Sacajawea State Park. They will be able to identify the type of delta it is ( ocean is not meeting river) and will explain which type of delta would be most suitable to build a house on (cont’d from last week)
