An inference is a logical conclusion based on evidence. A valid inference is believable and realistic.

Make an inference based on the following information:

1. Mary comes into class 10 minutes late. Her hair is still wet and she seems flustered. What can you infer?

I quickly packed my suitcase. I tossed in a change of clothes, a toothbrush, and a hairbrush. Glancing at my watch, I zipped the suitcase and walked to the front door. After I shut the window blinds, I pulled a heavy coat from the closet.
