Chemical Peel Post Treatment Care

(AHA, BHA, or Gel Peels)

  1. Use a gentle non-abrasive soap free cleanser such as Obagi Gentle Cleanser, Skinceuticals Gentle Cleanser, or Cerave. Do not use a wash cloth or cleaning brush. Only wash face your fingertips using a gentle circular motion.

  1. Use a sunscreen with an SPF 30 or higher on a daily basis. Avoid direct sunlight for at least one week. Your skin is at increased risk for sun sensitivity and hyperpigmentation after a chemical peel.

  1. Do not peel, pick or scratch the treated area, as this may result in scarring. If there is any flaking, let the dead skin fall off naturally. Peeling typically begins 48 hours after your procedure.

  1. Do not have any other facial treatments for at least 1 week

  1. Your skin may become pink for several days. Please avoid any strenuous exercise during this period. It is important for the body/skin to remain cool. Flushing can linger for a few weeks.

  1. No facial waxing for at least one week

  1. Avoid exercise and chlorine for 48 hours

  1. Avoid any retinols, exfoliators, acne products, and anti-aging products for one week

  1. If Retinol was used during your peel and you have a yellow tint to the skin, do not wash your face for at least 3 hours
