Formatted – produces a formatted (protected) file, When viewed in Microsoft® Excel, marksheet columns and data are displayed in a similar way to the marksheet. However the structure of a formatted file is read-only, so student fields are locked and columns cannot be moved or resized. Data can be edited or deleted in a formatted file.

  • Unformatted – produces an unformatted (unprotected) file. When viewed in Microsoft® Excel, marksheet columns and data are displayed in a similar way to the marksheet. Student fields are unlocked, columns can be resized and data can be edited or deleted. This enables you to edit data outside of SIMS, then import back into SIMS.

  • Raw Data Only – produces an unformatted (unprotected) file. When viewed in Microsoft® Excel, no formatting of column headers, row headers, etc. is performed and the output is similar to that of a .CSV file.

    1. Click the Next button to continue.

    You now need to select the directory where the exported marksheets will be saved and from where they can be accessed by Microsoft® Excel.

    NOTE: If you wish to export to a floppy drive, you must first create a directory within the drive to which to export the files. If you do not, the export will fail.



    1. Click the Field Browser button to display the Browse for Folder dialog.



    1. Select the appropriate drive and then navigate to and double-click the required folder.

    2. Alternatively, you can create a new folder by clicking the Make New Folder button to display the Make New Folder box, and entering a name for the new folder.

    3. Click the OK button to return to the wizard, where the selected folder is displayed.

    4. Click the Finish button and you are asked for confirmation that you wish to proceed. Click the Yes button to start the export process. The procedure will create one Excel file for each selected marksheet and place it in the folder you designated. The file name will be made up as follows: >, e.g. <JB-Maths Progress-8A.xls>.

    An Activity Log, which can be printed and saved, is displayed when the process is complete.

    1. Click the Cancel button to exit the wizard.
