Certified Management Consultants and Canadian Telecommunications Consultants Association to join forces.

December 11, 2012
TORONTO - Canadian Association of Management Consultants (CMC-Canada) and Canadian Telecommunications Consultants Association (CTCA) announced today the two organizations will join forces to build a more powerful voice for the management consulting industry. Upon successful completion of a trial affiliate period, the CTCA will consider a permanent relationship as part of CMC-Canada in 2013.
This announcement follows several months of discussion where representatives of both associations looked at ways to collaborate for the betterment of all management consultants, regardless of industry focus.
CMC-Canada’s Chief Executive Officer Glenn Yonemitsu, CMC, is pleased with the agreement, “the synergies between the two organizations and our professions is remarkable. We concluded that together, we can build a stronger association.”
This transaction is consistent with one of CMC-Canada's growth strategies -- to forge alliances with other professional associations by providing access to the Certified Management Consultant (CMC) designation, which is recognized by Provincial legislation across Canada. The CMC designation raises the bar on standards in the management consulting profession and advocates for a higher level of consulting. Obtaining the designation requires comprehensive training and adherence to a professional code of conduct so clients and the public can benefit from top quality advisory services.
CTCA is a Canadian professional association of independent telecommunications consultants. The association stands for competent, capable, knowledgeable, experienced, and ethical telecommunications consulting.
This transaction provides several benefits to CTCA members: the CMC designation for qualified CTCA consultants with the respective recognition by industry and government; access to additional professional development opportunities; an expanded network of like-minded professionals; and, the chance to grow awareness of the CTCA.
The CMC designation will complement the CTCA. Currently specialists hold the CMC designation in many fields including finance and accounting, IT, human resources, agrology, strategy, engineering, and project management. CMC-Canada members are pleased to welcome the specialized experience of consulting telecommunications professionals to the organization, enhancing the existing membership.
“Our objective is to continue to grow the number of CTCA consultants and provide membership with more value. Many CTCA members are finding their practice becoming more management consulting focused. The work now requires a common body of knowledge that is necessary for the CMC certification. I am a CTCA member since 1999 and recently acquired the CMC designation. I see the benefits and synergies of participating in both organizations. A trial merger with a potential for a more permanent arrangement makes a lot of sense for both organizations.”

Ron Pickett, MBA, CMC, Executive Vice President, CTCA

“CMC-Canada is excited to welcome CTCA into our growing network of affiliate organizations. This union will allow members of both associations to connect and learn from each other to enhance their knowledge base.

Glenn Yonemitsu, MBA, CMC, Chief Executive Officer, CMC-Canada

“As a member of both organizations for many years, I can see a great opportunity for the these two groups to benefit from working together.”

Scott Murphy, BMath, CMC Candidate, Executive Vice President, CTCA

“Our Board is very excited to support this partnership with the CMC. The CMC shares our strict ethics, strong national presence and the desire to offer their members ever-increasing value.”

Kirk Glaze, President, CTCA
