THE 2017 BERNARD AND KATHLEEN BEAZLEY

SUMMER INTERNSHIP PROGRAM
The BERNARD AND KATHLEEN BEAZLEY SUMMER INTERNSHIP PROGRAM is a 12-week paid summer internship for students interested in pursuing a DDS, DMD, a Master in Dental Hygiene or a Master in Public Health.
Located at Oral Health America’s headquarters, 180 North Michigan Avenue, Suite 1150, Chicago, IL, this internship begins in May/June and ends in August/September. Relocation and transportation costs of the internship are the responsibility of the student and are not covered by Oral Health America.
This internship is designed to provide knowledge of the world of dentistry and oral health beyond private practice. Interns will gain:

  • Experience in nonprofit management with a leading oral health organization

  • Opportunities for dental research and communications about direct service to vulnerable populations

  • Project leadership experience at the nation’s leading nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the oral health of all Americans

  • Opportunities to engage in public health dentistry in a variety of community-based settings

  • Invaluable experience working with the public to solve some of the nation’s toughest healthcare challenges

  • Potential for one year Program Coordinator Fellowship employment with OHA, depending on availability and performance as a summer intern

  • Connections with dental school leaders, oral health professionals, dental manufacturers and national organizations and associations



Application Guidelines:

  • Complete the attached application, essay questions and submit a resume.

  • Provide two Professional Reference letters - Addressed to Beth Truett, President and CEO of Oral Health America, and mailed directly to Christine Spencer, Administrative Assistant at Oral Health America.

Interviews will be granted to candidates who meet the qualifications of the internship, illustrate good academic standing, the strength of their references, and their interest in oral health or public health.
