“Age is mind over matter. If you don’t mind, it doesn’t matter.”
Arthritis is not for old people! Patients today have been falsely taught to believe that when their pain is gone, their problem is gone too, but that is far from the truth. This is especially true with subluxations. Subluxation by definition is less than a dislocation, which is 100% out of place. Sub means less then or below, and luxation means dislocation. A joint that is misaligned as little as 1 mm out of normal positioning or just less than a dislocation, is considered a subluxated joint. Any subluxation that is not corrected progresses to degenerate joint disease and arthritis.
The reason for the pain in a joint is initially due to swelling and inflammation putting pressure on a nerve or nerve root. When the swelling and inflammation is gone, the pain goes away, too, until it progresses to degenerate joint disease and the joint is bone on bone. By that time, the nerve generally is dead and not sending signals to and from the brain anymore.
If the body cannot correct the problem on its own, it fuses the two joints together to protect you from further injury. Over time, the body degenerates the disc between the two vertebrae, taking it away and leaving them bone on bone. The body does this by building bridges of calcium across the joint during the process of removing the disc, or in the case that it is an extremity, it takes away the joints lubricating coating. These bridges of calcium are called Osteoarthritis; more commonly referred to as Arthritis. We commonly hear of Arthritis being caused by old age, but this too is an untrue statement. It is true that age does have something to do with arthritis, but it is not due to the age of the body. It is caused by the age of a subluxation itself. The longer the subluxation, or misalignment, goes undetected the greater the tendency to develop arthritis. I have seen 20 year old patients with severe arthritis in the spine, and I have seen 90 year patients with no arthritis. So, if arthritis is due to how old we are, then the 90 year old person should have been filled with advanced arthritis, and the 20 year old should have been arthritis free.
Uncorrected subluxations of the spine, or any other joint of the body, do not stop progressing just because the pain is gone, as many chiropractors and medical doctors believe. It continues to progress to further problems, such as arthritis and degenerate joint disease. Even worse, since each nerve that comes out the spinal cord also supplies an organ, this can also cause disease of that organ as well. Hippocrates said, “Look well to the spine for the cause of disease”. According to Chang Ha Suh, a spinal expert, pressure with just the weight of a dime on a spinal nerve is enough to decrease nerve transmission by 60%. Think of a nerve like a garden hose; if we pinch the hose, less will come out of the other end of the hose. So it is true of a pinched nerve supplying an organ. Do you think that organ will be able to function at 100% if it is only getting 40% of nerve flow? Let’s say your heart only receives 40% nerve flow. Do you think that could cause a heart attack if the patient is under extra stress? Now you can see why pinched nerves are responsible for many diseases related to the organs of the body.
Loss of communication to the brain as a result of fusing can lead not only to disease, but other symptoms such as loss of sex drive, constipation, prostate or bladder problems, stiffness, and loss of range of motion, restricting you from your daily activates. That is why it is vital even for pain free people to be checked to rule out subluxation before this silent killer shows up as severe condition of an organ or muscle problem.
Chiropractic Success Story
I came into Dr. Herb in tremendous pain on a Monday. I was having so much pain I could hardly walk, sit, or stand. My back was so bad. After 3 visits I felt really good. I am continuing to see him and feel better every day!
Now he is working on not only my back, but my shoulders also. My primary doctor wanted me to have a shoulder replacement, and I said no, so I now I will see how the treatment works.
“When my spine is in line, I feel fine!

Pain is NOT a Lifestyle I first injured my back lifting feed sacks on the farm at age 16. Dad took me to an Osteopath who adjusted my back. At that time, Osteopaths adjusted similar to Chiropractors. Thirteen years later in1980 I was injured in an automobile accident and could hardly walk so I sought the help of a chiropractor who treated me over a long period of time and got me back to health. During my healing time I got to know the doctor very well. He then encouraged me to go on to Chiropractic College because of my heart to help people. Several months later the economy dropped, I lost my job, and I remembered what he said. His words later inspired me to become a Chiropractor.
