Have you ever tried to make parts of your hair lighter than the rest of your hair? Perhaps the way you tried to do it did not lighten it or maybe it turned out a weird orange color?

Question being asked:

Have you ever tried to make parts of your hair lighter than the rest of your hair? Perhaps the way you tried to do it, it did not lighten it or maybe it turned out a weird orange color? Which method of hair lightening turns dark hair less orange?

Hypothesis:

The darker your hair is, when you try to turn it lighter, it just turns more orange. Also, I think that the dye will be more effective because the chemicals are stronger.

Description of process:

I will first, take a swatch of hair and secure it on both sides. Then I will mix the hair lightener as directed and lay the hair swatch on foil. Apply the lightener to the hair swatch with a stiff brush. Leave it on the hair for estimated time, rinse, and let it air dry. Label each swatch. For sunlight bleaching, I will put another swatch outside to where it hits the sunlight. For natural chemical lightening, I put lemon juice on another swatch of hair. Place it in the sun for several hours, rinse, and let air dry. Then compare all the swatches, record and share results.

Hypothesis:

I figure that the darker your hair is, if you dye it lighter, the more orange gets. I also think it depends on how damaged your hair is. For example, from hot tools, products, gels, hairspray, heat protectant, etc.

Background Information:

You probably wonder this question. How come when I dye my hair lighter, most of the time, it turns orange? Here’s where I come in. Most of you are supposed to use the right treatment for your hair dye. Whether it is natural, highlighting, or pure dying it. If your natural hair is darker, they say the best way to dye it lighter is to use hydrogen peroxide and an ammonia-based hair lightener. Hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) is an oxidizing chemical that bleaches the natural pigments in human hair.

The hair dye will affect the strength of the hair, or your hair. Therefore, the precaution is serious. Adult supervision is needed, gloves, and protective eyewear. People have said they thought that they were getting ripped off at the hair salon they went to. So, they went to a more expensive hair salon and it still did the same thing. Now I’ve decided to help everyone out and make an experiment on it, so that mostly everyone will understand. The human hair shaft has four parts, the outer cells (cuticle), which surrounds the fibrosis cells (cortical). The core is called is called the medulla. Within the cortical cell is a micro fibril.
